Flipboard is an innovative news aggregation app that allows users to build personalized digital magazines by curating articles, photos, and videos from multiple sources. First released in 2010 by Mike McCue and Evan Doll, Flipboard quickly gained widespread acclaim due to its intuitive user experience and eye-catching aesthetic.

Flipboard was conceptualized when McCue, a Silicon Valley veteran and former CEO of Tellme Networks, sought a way to make digital content consumption more pleasurable and engaging. In addition, he wanted a platform which combined elements from print media, such as aesthetic layouts and typography, with digital technology's power and convenience.

With Doll, a former Apple engineer, McCue aimed to develop a mobile app that allowed users to quickly flip through news articles and social media updates, like turning magazine pages. Their collaboration resulted in the launch of Flipboard on the iPad in July 2010.

Flipboard was an instantaneous success and quickly expanded across platforms such as iOS and Android. By 2012, there were 20 million users of its service, with over $110 million invested by top investors such as Index Ventures, Kleiner Perkins and Insight Venture Partners.

Over the years, Flipboard has continued to innovate and adapt. New features include personalized recommendations, social sharing, and custom magazine creation. Today, over 100 million people use Flipboard, with partnerships with more than 4,000 publishers such as New York Times, National Geographic and The Wall Street Journal.
